The characteristics of Cooperating Object applications are quite different from traditional wireless and wired networks. There are critical factors that influence the architectural design and protocol development of Cooperating Object applications that introduce some stringent constraints. Moreover, the constraints for a Cooperating Object application domain may be quite different from another one. For example, security requirements in health and security applications can be more critical than in a home application scenario. Therefore, a onesize-fits-all approach does not work for Cooperating Objects. Additionally, there is a need for application categorisation in order to be able to identify common requirements.
